Olympic skeleton gold medallist Jon Montgomery will be the auctioneer at a fundraising event in Kelowna next month.

Montgomery will attend the Canadian Cancer Society‘s sixth annual Gala of Hope, April 10 at the Delta Grand hotel. When‘s he‘s not sliding down the skeleton track, the Russell, Man., native makes his living as an auctioneer.

The Gala of Hope is an elegant dinner and dance expected to attract 350 guests. The cancer society hopes to raise $250,000.

“I am really looking forward to coming to Kelowna to be a part of the Gala of Hope and have some fun raising money for this great charity,” Montgomery was quoted as saying in a release.

“Having an entertaining and inspiring Olympic gold medallist in attendance will bring even more excitement and fun to our gala,” event co-ordinator Teresa Johnston said.

“Jon Montgomery is a celebrity, an amazing athlete, a talented auctioneer and a true Canadian hero. His presence will help us to draw a large crowd.”
